PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS

Alannah brings the Galway Flag a symbols of Mrs. Howley’s Connemara roots. Although she has lived in Mayo for most of her life, Mrs Howley will always be a Galway Girl at heart.
Cian brings the Mayo Flag a symbol of Mrs. Howley’s life here in Achill. Keel Beach, in particular holds a special place in Mrs. Howley’s heart.
Ciarán brings a family photograph. A symbol of the love and dedication Mrs. Howley has for her husband and family. It is also a symbol of the Mother figure, Mrs. Holwey has become to so many of us throughout the years.
Darragh brings a Garda hat as a symbol of the role Garda Holwey played in our community. Mrs. Howley was always on hand to provide food, teas and shelter for many Gardaí after a long night on the beat.
Dylan brings the chalk and glantóir. These are symbols of the main tools of the trade when Mrs. Howley started her teaching career, at a time when funding was low and resources minimal.
Holly brings a piece of First Holy Communion Art. Mrs. Howley has a lot of faith in the power of prayer. She has prepared many children for First Confessions and Holy Communion over the years, and pupils have lasting, fond memories of the special part Mrs. Howley played on the day.
Landi brings the band uniform. Mrs. Howley started the band many years ago and this wonderful tradition has been passed down from generation to generation. For many children the tin whistle was the only musical instrument they ever learned to play.
Leah brings the I.N.T.O. wall planner. This is a symbol of the amount of planning and organising Mrs. Howley did over the past few years as Co-Ordinator. It also symbolises her dedication to the union and her determination and involvement in efforts to improve conditions for pupils and teachers alike.
Lorcán brings our football jersey, a symbol of the many days, most of them wet, that Mrs. Howley spent cheering on teams from the sidelines and ferrying them to various matches all over the parish.
Saoirse brings the digital camera, as symbol of our changing times. Mrs. Howley in her recent role as Co-Ordinator was on hand to capture forever, the fun, laughter and joy that the many events and courses she organised, provided for the teachers, parents and pupils of the parish.
