STAFF NEWS
Mrs. Howley, D.E.I.S Co-Ordinator, has informed us that she will be retiring from teaching at the end of August this year. Mrs. Howley has been attached to this school since the 1970’s and has served as a Class Teacher, Principal and D.E.I.S. Co-Ordinator. We wish her every health and happiness in her retirement and hope she enjoys the remaining few weeks with us.

In line with Department of Education and Science policy, the D.E.I.S. Co-Ordinator’s vacancy has been advertised internally in the five schools in the cluster. We will keep you informed of developments.

An advertisement appeared in last Friday’s Irish Independent for the position of permanent special class teacher for the A.S.D unit that will open in September 2008. The advertisement has also been placed on www.educationposts.ie. If you know of any teachers interested in a job in the Achill Area please inform them about the advertisement.

CÉILÍ AGUS TRÁTH NA GCEIST
A Céilí and Tráth na gCeist for Ranganna V & VI will take place on Tuesday, June 10 in Dooniver Community Room.

PRIMARY SCIENCE SUCCESS
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the much coveted ‘Award of Science Excellence Award’ for the second year in a row. Four children from the school will attend the award ceremony in Sligo on Tuesday, June 10. The award comes as a result of our year’s programme of science activities, events, and speakers. We congratulate each and every one of the pupils in the school, who participated in the various lesson and activities, without them there would be no award. We look forward to renewing our award in the years ahead.

ENROLMENT OF NEW INFANTS
Enrolment of new infants for September 2008 will take place in the school on Wednesday, 11 of June 2008 from 9:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. Parents and children are welcome to visit the school during this time.
An Orientation Morning for the new infants will take place on Wednesday, 18 of June 2008 from 9:00a.m. to 12:00 noon.

GET IT RIGHT WORKSHOP
This workshop is for the children in Rang VI and will take place on Wednesday, 11 of June 2008 from 12:30p.m. to 2:30p.m. The workshop will deal with transition from Primary School to Post Primary School. The workshop will be held in the school.

SCHOOL CLOSURES
We remind you that there will be no school on Thursday, 12 of June and Friday, 13 of June 2008.

END OF YEAR SCHOOL MASS
Fr. McGuinness will celebrate Mass in the school on Friday, 20 of June 2008 at 9:30a.m. We would like to invite everyone associated with the school to this Mass. The children will make a presentation to Mrs. Howley on the day, as it will be her last teaching day with us. We invite you to join us for some refreshments afterwards. Children are free to go home after the Mass.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS
We will close on Friday, 20 of June for the summer. The school will re-open on Monday, 1 of September 2008 at 9:20a.m.
